Cathy Beasley
Business Administrator

My Specialty: I love to build bridges! That is the bridge between a vision and the steps of how to get there, whether it is in business principles or with people.

What I do for CUMC: I’m a team leader in the business administration and facilities area and I love it! I work with wonderful people who are passionate about serving God.

Pre-CUMC years: I have my own business doing accounting since 1993; I still have some of the clients I got at that time. I helped clients whose companies needed goals and procedures to turn them around or to save the owner’s sanity.

What I love: I love God, my family, nature and meeting new people! God has blessed me in so many ways and I’m so grateful for his everlasting love. He blessed me with a dedicated husband, Jack, of nearly 23 years and 4 wonderful children, Jacob, Shane, and twins Kendal and Chris. Jacob and Shane are now serving in the Nuclear Power Program in the US Navy and Chris and Kendal are students at Cy-Fair high school. Life really does come at us fast! I love to spend time with my family saltwater fishing, kayaking and hanging out at the beach collecting beach glass. I love meeting new people, everyone has a story and I love hearing them. One of my favorite places to hear stories is at the Veterans’ Hospital listening to a veteran’s story of serving this great country.

What I hate: I hate the word hate…but injustices to children truly hurts me. I believe every child is a gift from God to parents and to the future of the world. They should be loved, nurtured, encouraged, hugged and kissed every day. Jesus loves them and so should we.

Greatest Advise: “You have a beautiful voice…let it be heard… with grace.” This has required 20 plus years of continued prayer for God to take my sharp, radical street voice and turn it into a voice of grace, encouragement and love. I’ve come along way but it is a work in progress.

Most meaningful Song: Amazing Grace – it truly takes God’s grace to take us from what we let our environment create into loving Disciples of Christ to share with the world.

When times of inspirations come: Running is my quite time with God…this is why running solo has always been best for me. I also believe that running helped me be a better mom; it gave me time to relax and regroup.

My Favorite Color: COLORS! Yellow, Orange and Lime green

My Favorite Movie: ALL MOVIES! The Sound of Music and Grease

My Favorite Food: Seafood, especially crabs…that’s one of the reasons I love fishing at our bay house.

Patti Langford
Receptionist

Before I was on staff at CUMC, I was an Office Angel here for eight years. I worked full time then part time for my father wearing various hats in a manufacturing company out of necessity. I looked forward to coming to the church every Thursday to volunteer in the office. The people contact was so much fun!

I love people, and especially the peeps at CUMC. It is such a privilege to serve the Lord by serving His people. As receptionist of CUMC, I get to talk to many of you, help answer your questions, or direct your calls to someone else. I also serve as the Office Angel Coordinator and call our much appreciated volunteers when we need help in the office. We could not function effectively without them.

I love my family, my dog, a great story, a great sense of humor, and great friends. I love to entertain and decorate within a budget. I also love a quiet day for myself once in awhile to recharge.

I hate anyone who is deliberately cruel to another human being or an animal.

My favorite books in the Bible are John, and then Ephesians.

My favorite color has been red for as long as I can remember, and seafood of any kind is the best!

Blessings happen every day, and I am so grateful to our Lord and Savior for every one of them!

Betsy Young
Membership and Database

I have been a member here since 1990 and became a part-time staff member in 2008.

I work extensively with the church database (Shelby) to maintain CUMC's membership rolls and support all the ministries of our wonderful church.

In my past life I worked for many years in the educational and psychology/counseling fields.

As for family, I am blessed to have two grown children, a son and a daughter. I am quite fortunate that they both live in the Houston area and I am able to see my three grandchildren regularly.
