My specialties: Graphic design, space planning, alittle interior design, making great spaghetti (my husband loves spaghetti), and irritating my kids.

The pre-CUMC years: Worked as a designer in small architecture firms, owned my own design consulting business, and full-time mom.  In high school, I was a waitress at Chili's (learned how to multi-task).  Multi-tasking might be commonly compared to ADHD, I might agree, sometimes I feel ADHD.

What I am reading:  I am currently reading The Hole in our Gospel and Boundries  I just recently finished an awesome book by Tim Keller called The Prodigal God.

Favorite book of the Bible: Hebrews

Favorite Movies: Amelie, American Beauty and Wizard of Oz

The people in my life: My two sons, George and David, and my husband, Brandon who is the guitarist in the praise band (Shadow of the Cross) that plays at our 9:30 contemporary service.

What I love: Babies…I love to squeeze them (ask anyone in the office).

What I hate: Abuses against children; this is my Holy Discontent!

What I do for CUMC:  I update the website, create ads, market all the ministries.  In additions, I do the weekly email blasts that go out to the congregation and guests and much, much more!  I am also on the Long Range Planning Steering Committee called Seeking God's Path.

The college years: University of Houston, College of Architecture. But before that I almost flunked out of Southwest Texas State University (too many frat parties).

What makes me laugh: When my husband gets tickled, he makes me laugh. One of the reasons that I married him is his humor.

In a previous life: I was not a Christian until 9-11, God shook me up that day. My life was in the toilet with depression and my marriage on the rocks. Jesus did a 180 on my life and I have never turned back. I love Jesus!

5 ways to describe me: I am very creative.  I love to create whether it is a craft or a logo for someone. There have been times I thought being creative was sort of a curse because my mind was always “creating.”  I think I am loving, friendly, kind and very loyal. I love to make others laugh and sometimes I crack myself up.

What I do for CUMC: I am part of the communications team.  My main responsibilities are putting the What’s Happening together, printing it and the bulletins for Sunday mornings.  I also handle most of the printing of brochures, forms, post cards and any mailings that the church sends out. I love being apart of something that has real meaning and working at Cypress is a true blessing

The people in my life: Jim is my husband for 31 years and we have 2 beautiful daughters, Melanie 25 and Lauren 21. Melanie is married to Aaron Figg, they live in Austin and Lauren just graduated from Texas State.

My favorite color: Purple...but I love all colors.

My favorite food: I have lots of favorites...Mexican, Italian, Seafood, food in general. I live to eat, my husband eats to live.

What I love: I love life, laughter, spending time with family and friends.

What I strongly dislike: People who are always grumpy and complaining.

What makes me laugh: Small children-they are so innocent and will say almost anything, a good joke or a true life story.  I love to be around joyful people who laugh at my stories.

Best advice I ever received: When my girls were young the best advise was “Pick your Battles.”  Some more sage advice I was given was “Breath in, breath out, it is what it is.”

The college years: I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 3 ½ years with a Bachelor of Science in Printing Management.

In a previous life: I owned my own business for 20 years selling silk screening and embroidery.

Mostly likely to be when Divine inspiration hits: At our property outside of Burnet, Texas sitting on the porch admiring God’s handiwork.

Favorite Bible Verse:  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Phil 4:13

Favorite Movie: The Secret Life of Bees
