To prepare our youth for Christ-centered living, we offer a variety of mission opportunities in the summer. This summer, we will be attending Camp Barnabas, UM ARMY, and Galveston.

June 24 - 30.
Cost: $150
Completed 9th-12th Grade.
Using a local Methodist church as a base camp where they sleep on the floor and eat ARMY food, participants spend the week providing free home repairs for low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in the surrounding area. Through the building of wheelchair ramps, porches, steps, and handrails; painting homes, cleaning houses, and mowing yards, this ARMY reaches out and becomes missionaries serving God’s people. This work, along with daily devotions and evening worship, provides a unique opportunity for Christian growth and leadership development in youth. Combining this with evening recreation, fellowship, and fun makes U. M. ARMY an unforgettable and life-changing experience. Homes are repaired. Hearts are lifted. Lives are changed. Love is shared. God is revealed.

June 8-15
Completed 10th-12th Graders.
Term 2 - Challenge Week pictures
Children (ages 7-15) who are physically disabled are invited to attend this week of camp. This week most campers use wheelchairs for mobility; however, some use hand crutches or walkers for mobility assistance. The campers this week should have developmental vs. chronological age within one year of the norm. Counselor-to-camper ratio is 1:1.
This week is all about fun. While the campers have varying needs, they love being with others like themselves. One camper who has been coming to this term for six years shared, “This is the one place where I feel accepted. I wish I could live at Camp Barnabas all the time. I’ve never been any place where there are almost a hundred people in wheelchairs!”
Siblings are invited to attend this week. Camper siblings have their own special program. While the siblings will see one another at camp, they will not live in the same cabin.

June 10-14
Cost: $125
Completed 6th - 8th Grade
Since its inception in 2010, Galveston Urban Ministries (GUM) has been building relationships and learining about the community in which it serves. GUM has moved into the neighborhood and is creating programs based on the assessments and the needs voiced by the community. As a relationship based ministry, Cypress UMC youth will be focused on building and growing relationships, work projects and street camps.
